Mission: To promote student achievement at the highest levels through flexible, online learning opportunities that meet C-FBISD, Texas and national standards.

Philosophy: Our students today are digital natives that relate to content that is provided in a virtual, online environment. Our teachers utilize the power of technology to make content more relevant to student and to increase their motivation and engagement with the curriculum.

History:  CFB Virtual Campus began it pilot year in 2006-2007 under the direction of Dr. Barry Dodson, who serves as CFB Virtual Campus principal. CFB vCampus began implementation of online learning using a “blended” model of face to face instruction and student access to online content using the UT AKSME online Algebra I curriculum.

Challenge and area of focus:  CFB Virtual campus wishes to expand online learning opportunities and make content accessible to all students anywhere, anytime.

Strategy:

The Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Virtual Campus implemented the UT ASKME Algebra I and Geometry online courses at selected high school and middle school campuses in our district. Instruction is delivered via a blended model that maximizes a student’s full-potential by engaging him/her with relevant, concept based online curriculum with the support of a certified teacher/facilitator.

Implementation:

1.    Goal Setting: To offer students flexible learning opportunities challenging, relevant online courses that will lead toward completion of their personal graduation plan. The online program provides students with real world learning opportunities through online application.
2.    Needs Assessment Question: What was needed to improve student performance in Algebra I and Geometry?
3.    The implementation process involved:
·   Selecting high quality, standards-based curriculum
·    Training for teachers in working with students with online curriculum
·    Engaging students in relevant, real world experiences to develop understanding of Algebra and Geometry concepts

Outcomes:
·   District Benchmark Assessments for Algebra I and Geometry
·   Math TAKS results
·   End of semester and final exam data
